Bernie John Glim, born in Blue Island, Illinois, received a cherry-red SG Junior at the age of twelve and has been performing ever since. His formal music studies included work at the American Conservatory of Music and the Chicago Conservatory of Music.
He performed in Chicago's Free Street Theatre, Pheasant Run Theatre's production of Godspell and Drury Lane's I'm Getting My Act Together and Taking It on the Road.
Throughout the 70's, 80's 90's and into the new millenium, he played a wide variety of styles, working and touring with bands such as Gangster, Numaro, Selah, Adrian Smith, Dave Coady, Country Roads & Bernie Glim & Friends, opening shows for ELO, Styx, B. J. Thomas, ShaNaNa, Cheech and Chong, Marshall Tucker, Jefferson Starship, Bellamy Brothers, Glen Campbell, Ray Price, Billy Ray Cyrus and other national acts. He has performed in Canada, Mexico and Europe and 36 states in the USA.
As the guitarist for the Gene White Orchestra, 17 pc swing band for the Executive Inn in Owensboro, Kentucky, Bernie played charts for touring stars — Bobby Rydell, Engelbert Humperdink, Al Martino, Charo, Frankie Avalon and others. Bernie has written and arranged two albums, "Hey Boys I Wanna Play" and "Playin' To Win", collaborating with Karen, Kevin Kincaid and Terry Charles. He performs as a solo artist and with his band, Bernie Glim & Friends, featuring drummer Scott Bonshire, Violinist Al Joseph and Annie Kincaid, guitarist Frank Wysong and bassist Jim Williams and John Falstrom, along with Karen Glim and Rachel McGowan on vocals and percussion. On most Sunday mornings you will find him at church playing with his wife, Karen, and her praise ensemble......................... or fishing with one of their 13 grandchildren!
